हिन्दूओं में शुभ विवाह की तिथि ज्ञात करने के लिये वर-वधू की जन्म राशि का प्रयोग किया जाता है. वर या वधू का जन्म जिस चन्द्र नक्षत्र में हुआ होता है, उस नक्षत्र के चरण में आने वाले अक्षर को भी विवाह की तिथि ज्ञात करने के लिये प्रयोग किया जाता है. विवाह की तिथि सदैव वर-वधू की कुण्डली में गुण-मिलान करने के बाद निकाली जाती है क्योकि विवाह की तिथि तय होने के बाद, कुण्डलियों की मिलान प्रक्रिया नहीं करनी चाहिए.
निम्न सारणी से विवाह मुहूर्त समय का निर्णय करने के लिये वर-कन्या की राशियों में विवाह की एक समान तिथि को विवाह मुहूर्त के लिये लिया जाता है. उदाहरण के लिये वृष राशि के वर का विवाह - कर्क राशि की कन्या से हो रहा हो, तो दोनों के विवाह के लिये 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30 तिथियाँ एक समान होने के कारण शुभ रहेगी.
